 Union County is located in North Central Florida, southwest of Jacksonville and North of Gainesville. Union County was created in 1921 from a portion of Bradford County, and was named to honor the concept of unity. The population of Union County has seen steady growth since 2000, and is estimated currently to be over 15,000. The land area of Union County covers aproximately 250 square miles. Like neighboring Bradford County, Union County is home to several State correctional institutions, which provide significant employment opportunities for County residents. |
