 Suwannee County is located in North Central Florida. As its name implies, the meandering Suwannee River has a big influence on the county, and forms three of its four boundaries (North, West, and South). Interstate 10 runs through the northern portion of the county, and Interstate 75 is a short distance to the east. CSX Railways operates east/west railservice through the northern part of the county. Suwannee County hosts one of the two Catalyst Sites in the North Central Rural Area of Critical Economic Concern. The Catalyst Site project assits the county in the preparation of a large-scale, shovel ready development site. The population of Suwannee County has grown steadily since 2000, and is currently estimated to be over 39,000. The largest private sector employment is in the industries of Poultry Manufacturing and Healthcare. |
