Bradford County

Bradford County is located in North Central Florida, between Jacksonville to the Northeast and Gainesville to the Southwest. The population of Bradford County is estimated to be aproximately 28,000, over 65% of which are of working age. The county has an area of aproximately 300 square miles.

Originally named, "New River County," Bradford County was renamed for Captain Richard Bradford, an officer in the American civil war. The county seat is the City of Starke. Today, Bradford County is home to several state correctional facilities, including the Florida State Prison.
