Baker County, Florida

Baker CountyBaker County is located in Northeast Florida, only a short distance west of the City of Jacksonville. The county borders the state of Georgia, and is only 45 miles from the University of Florida in Gainesville. With a current population of about 25,000, Baker County is growing rapidly due to its prime location and intermodal transportation infrastructure. Interstate 10 crosses the county from east to west, with five interchanges, and CSX rail service runs east/west through the County Seat of Macclenny. Jacksonville's deep water port and the Jacksonville International Airport are only 40 minutes away.

The labor force in Baker County is dependable and productive, with a wide variety of skill levels. Local, high quality, training programs enhance labor acuity. Florida is a right to work state.

Baker County has two main industrial parks, Enterprise East on US 90 east of Macclenny and Enterprise West in Sanderson. Enterprise East offers water and sewer facilities from the City of Macclenny, and Enterprise West has rail service from CSX Transportation. Enterprise East is home to a Wal-Mart Distribution Center, employing nearly 600, while Enterprise West is anchored by Wiremil, a pre-stressed steel cable manufacturer, and Sanderson Pipe Corporation, which manufactures PVC pipes.The Baker County Development Commission has land available in both parks.

The Baker County Chamber of Commerce, Development Commission, and County Commission, collaborate to promote local business expansion and to provide opportunities for new industrial prospects.
